Abstract
In this paper, the use of the gamma-absorption method applied in the investigation of the two-phase liquid-gas flow in the pipeline is described. An example of its application to the air transported by water in a horizontal pipeline is evaluated. In the measurements, Am-241 radioactive sources and probes with Nal (Tl) scintillation crystals have been used. The signals from the radiometric set were used to determine the velocity of the dispersed phase, void fraction and for identification of flow regime. In the latter case, artificial neural networks were applied. Results of the selected experiments carried out on a laboratory stand are presented.

Abstract
This paper presents a novel method developed for preprocessing of the triaxial accelerometer output signals recorded during a handwriting. The DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) was applied to decompose acceleration of each axis into two components representing the acceleration caused by intended hand motion and the fluctuation of acceleration, respectively. Based on the first mentioned component various features were extracted to recognize handwriting and to characterize a person.

Abstract
The paper presents a virtual impedance spectroscopy based on a USB Personal DAQ/3000 card. A virtual spectroscope consist of a sine voltage generator (analog output of DAQ card), smoothing filter and two-channel voltage recorder - two analog inputs of DAQ card. The impedance of the tested object is measured indirectly using voltage samples on the object and a reference resistor, which is used to measure the current. All operations connected with signal generation, registration both voltage and current signals and also determination of the object impedance and its components has been developed in LabVIEW environment. In the paper a justification of the frequency band width of the signal depending on the maximum sampling frequency of DAC and the parameters of the used smoothing filter is presented. When the used DAQ card in analog input has only a single ADC therefore alternating sampling of both signals (voltage and current) must be used, therefore the additional signal phase shift proportional to signals frequency and sampling period occur. A simple and effective method of correction of this effect is proposed. In order to carry out experimental research, a research stand was developed. The uncertainty of the measurement results was investigated by A and B methods. Determined on the basis of the analysis of the uncertainty values of the measurement results show that using a relatively simple measurement DAQ card it is possible to build a virtual impedance spectroscopy of a few tenth percent relative combined standard uncertainty.

Abstract
This paper describes a proposition of use of Hilbert Transform to time delay estimation in radioisotope measurements of two-phase flow. It presents results of simulation study of the modified crosscorrelation method, in which the Hilbert Transform of one measured signal is used. The simulations have been carried out for models of stochastic signals, corresponding to signals received in investigations of liquid-gas flow through horizontal pipeline, carried out with use of gamma-ray absorption technique. It has been stated that the described method provides better metrological properties than classical cross-correlation.
